Life is often a beautiful accident. Sometimes it might feel more like a car crash. For me, tonight was a little bit of both.
I still have a job, so I probably shouldn't go too in depth but, put simply, more than half the business I work for lost their jobs today. I'm kinda part of that number. They can find me an equivalent job (in every sense) or... well, there's probably some sort of caveat on the other potential outcomes!
The point is, it was a great night to have an extraordinary Thursday night courtesy of Tone and Space Is The Place starring Samiyam!
To be honest, I'm not a big fan of Samiyam production – that doesn't mean I don't like it, I just don't love it... But, I'd seen youtube videos of Samiyam's DJ sets and they're all good. I'm a picky muthfucka when it comes to the current wave of hip hop.
Apart from being one of the greatest people you'll ever meet, Edseven is also a rockin' DJ (for the same reason). He set the tempo for the following DJs Monkfly and Prize, part of the crew who put the night on. They all rocked the joint.
Samiyam rocked his shit too. Great guy, great DJ. I probably annoyed him outside later but he gave me props (or acknowledged) my t-shirt I was showing during his set [tshirt pic]... so, all good in my book. Great night! Great people, great venue, great music! Uncertain future... that's how I'm livin'!!!
PS Acouple of hours later I was off to the airport to pick up Bottin – unfortunately and unsurprisingly I slept through my alarm and was late but he was cool and is a totally nice guy. I think he's the first person I've ever met from Venice. That would be a lovely place to live!
The Bottin party is presented by Picnic and is on next Friday at Goodgod Small Club. Details over at the Picnic website.
